April 2 (CALGARY) Communities First is proud to announce that Kim Tyers will be representing Ward 1 as their candidate in the upcoming Oct. 20 municipal election.
A lifelong Calgarian, Kim earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary in 2007. She has a diverse professional background, including experience in the insurance industry, owning a performing arts business, and holding senior roles in both federal and provincial governments. Currently, Kim serves as the Constituency Manager for a Member of Parliament in Calgary, working closely with residents on key community issues.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Kim is actively engaged in her community. She volunteers and performs with a local ballet society, contributes to her church, and supports the Calgary soccer community. Living in northwest Calgary with her family, Kim is dedicated to making the city a better place for all.
“I am honoured to join the Communities First team and represent Ward 1,” said Tyers. “I know how much people in Ward 1 care about their communities, and they deserve someone who listens and takes action, just as Councillor Sharp has done. I’m committed to pushing for responsible City spending, making our neighbourhoods safer, and supporting thoughtful growth that respects the character of the places we call home,” said Tyers.
Communities First Mayoral Candidate Sonya Sharp expressed her confidence in Tyers as her successor. “I know the communities of Ward 1 will be in excellent hands with Kim Tyers. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service. She understands the unique needs of Ward 1, and I am confident she will work tirelessly to represent these communities with integrity and dedication.”
Rob Ward, the Communities First candidate for Ward 11, also welcomed Tyers to the team. “Kim’s extensive background in both government and community service positions her well to address the challenges our city faces,” said Ward. “Her passion and dedication will be invaluable assets to Communities First, Ward 1 and Calgary as a whole.”
Communities First is a unique caucus of like-minded individuals committed to independently representing their constituents, prioritizing community interests above all.
